Sanguine likes Silk! His first impression of her was that she is super, super hot and while that's still the case, it's honestly more background noise than anything else. She Is Hot, okay what next?
Well, next is that she's also very sweet and caring? She obviously has some difficulty expressing emotions and Sanguine relates-- even if the ways he has difficulty are different-- but she shows compassion in her own way (like feeding everyone with Real Food), and it means a lot. That the first thing she cooked was something he specifically liked really endeared her to him, and he hasn't forgotten how nice that made him feel.
He'd like to get closer to her! Sanguine gets the feeling that there are walls there, even if the walls are just the two of them being not so great at communication. But he likes her and they get along, so it seems like a pretty solid basis to form a lasting friendship.
She likes Sanguine and she's fairly protective of him because he seems...so soft and he's been through so much. She isn't even sure what all he's been through but the house sounded bad and he's always running off by himself so it's worrying and so she would probably smack someone in the face for messing with him, honestly.
She doesn't feel like she knows him that well though, because like you said he's quiet and she has walls. She could probably push him more to talk about himself but she's not real sure how to do that. He doesn't annoy her so pushing and bullying like she tried to do with Boss at first doesn't really occur to her. Though, in spite of her trust issues and such if Sanguine asked her questions she'd probably be pretty okay with answering them. She's bad at volunteering information but if she's asked she'd probably be pretty willing to answer directly. So she does trust him. Communication is just hard.
Boss is genuinely one of Sanguine's most important people-- tied with Phoenix actually, though in Boss's instance it's not (quite) romantic. He thinks he's charming, fun, and carries way too much on himself sometimes-- though he can see Boss has been getting better about it.
He still feels really guilty about everything that happened to Boss in Betrayal and blames himself for it to this day. He wishes he could keep Boss from getting hurt ever again-- but he's slowly coming around to the realization that trying to shield him from everything is unfair for multiple reasons (survivor's guilt-- thanks Phoenix for helping Sanguine realize that-- and also that it's a double standard, wanting his own wishes to be respected but not giving Boss the same chance). He thinks he might owe Boss an apology for that-- and also for the snappish, PA way he spoke to him in Maki's post.
He cares about Boss, immensely so, and wants to see him happy. He still finds himself wanting to flirt with Boss or to make out with him, but he knows Boss loves his girlfriend and boyfriend, and respects that (even if he's uncomfortable around Maki). It's not easy to set aside those urges, but a little self-control never hurt anyone.
He doesn't really think of Boss as a "leader" perse, but does think that Boss has a knack with people, to know when a crowd needs to be worked up and when they need to release some steam. It's an admirable trait, and one he respects immensely. He admires him a great deal, and thinks that whatever goal Boss chases after, he'll end up achieving-- even if he stumbles along the way once or twice.
Sanguine would trust Boss with pretty much anything, because he trusts that he'll have the right heart. It's why admitting he got Pseudean Falsification didn't even make him blink. He doesn't know what he might need it for... but he doesn't need to know. He does appreciate that Boss was willing to tell him, though.
Sanguine views 99 the same way one might view a feral cat they adopted-- You love them, you want to take care of them, but you can never forget that they're feral.
Which isn't to say that Sanguine feels like he's in any danger from 99! It just means that he realizes he has to give 99 a good deal more space than he does with most of the others (except perhaps Thorn, who is a different sort of feral cat). Honestly, he adores 99. He thinks he's funny, fun, and always thoughtful in ways that end up surprising him.
99 keeps Sanguine guessing at what he's thinking or planning, but he really doesn't mind that. He's a wild card all of his own, someone who keeps things interesting. He fully intends to make good on his deal with 99 regarding the guys in charge-- in a way, he wants to impress him? Which even he think maybe sounds kind of weird, but whatever. He wants to show him that he's more tough than he thinks 99 gives him credit for.
(Also, he's been considering tapping 99 for a live where they steal Anubis from sensitIV.)
You have to consider 99's very narrow worldview when it comes to relationships. I don't think Dark Bakura knows how to live without a single minded goal to drive him, so he invented one for himself. In this case it is 'Overthrow the Producers'. Now he doesn't really know what that means yet. Replace them. Kill them all. Displace them. Prove they have no power over him, by making it home without there help. But he's not a hasty guy. He'll figure it out.
People tend to fall into two camps. Are you an enemy-of-my-enemy-is-my-friend (not quite ally but close?) or a pawn in regards to this goal? Sanguine is one of the unique people that actually falls into both categories. We'll start with the pawn first. 99 knows Sanguine is no push over. He's seen it in his memories. The glimpses of what he's seen shows he is capable individual. So he's definitely made it over the bar into the useful category. However, 99 definitely sees him as being able to be emotionally manipulated really easily. He sees that as a liability he can exploit and a liability others can exploit. This is partly why he bullies him. To see how much he can bend before Sanguine snaps back at him. The other part he does because he actually enjoys being snarky and receiving snark back from Sanguine. It's actually quite relaxing. But there is a part of him that believes Sanguine will break when end game comes around, and not in a good or useful way. This causes him to have the partial pawn status.
Only the flip side, 99 sees him as an almost ally. He was surprised when Sanguine took his bet on who could hold more hatred for the producers. Was actually quite proud of him when he did it. The fact that he hasn't lost sight of what 99 believes is endgame gets him a second look instead of a dismissal as he has done with others. He sees potential. He believes he could push Sanguine to really hate and feed of his hate and anger. Part of him wants to. Really wants to. To see if he can make him a truly terrifying force that the Producers would be fearful of and concerned about. To drag him down knee deep in the muck where you make decisions that you can't go back from. But if he did, would Sanguine still be Sanguine? He's not ready to answer the question --- and he's hasn't tilted that far into 'do anything to win' yet --- so he only pokes instead of pushes. He's feeling out for potential if he wants him to become an angry and spiteful creature or keeping him as Sanguine is now.
END GOAL ASIDE, he won't admit it to his face, but 99 does worry about Sanguine. It is probably really obvious since he does tend to search him out after he's had a hard time. He thinks the motorcycle rides are a great way to let of steam and just think. A++ bro. And he does tend to feel closer to Sanguine on a 'let's be friends' level than most people. Probably in top 5. He's calming and not dismissive of 99's behavior. 99 knows he's not the easiest person in the world to deal with by a long shot, so when people put up with his bullshit he is appreciative in his own way. He definitely has had the stray thought of 'if we weren't in a place without our memories and a bunch of assholes over us, I'd probably be friends with this guy'. He's quirky and weird, but I kind of like that. Who wants normal anyway?
Also he really wants a motorcycle but doesn't want to spend the points on it, you ass (sad with the most fondness). He probably will. :(
Name 2 head canons or personality traits from canon that you use to drive how Sanguine reacts the way he does? Basically, name two things that really make him tick the way he does.
Sanguine thinks A is probably one of the most intelligent people in all of Faukyo, in terms of cleverness and knowledge. Maybe even the most intelligent. He admired the ease that A solved the first puzzle in the Puzzle Game, and doesn't doubt he could've done the others too-- though since it was a collaborative effort, it's nice other people got a chance to shine.
For the most part, A seems like a nice, polite guy-- a little weird (showing off the "Boss-stabbed-me" scar comes to mind), but overall very pleasant. There is, on occasion, the nagging thought about what he could be capable of-- the ease in which he axe-murdered Sanguine... but it's pretty easy to ignore that thought, because Sanguine knows full well that A did what was best for both himself and Maki at the time. Besides, that was a kindness in its own way... wasn't it?
He can tell A isn't comfortable around the BEDE dorm, but attributes that largely to the aesthetic-- while Sanguine himself doesn't mind it, he knows AlcheME has a more.... elegant setup and it brings with it expectations for comfort levels. So while he wouldn't mind it if he came around more often, he gets it (he thinks).
He'd like to get to know A better! Not just because he seems to make Boss happy and Boss is important to Sanguine, but because of A himself. He knows he's a detective and that they're probably from the same world... but he realizes he doesn't know A all that well. It might be nice to change that one day? But talking to people is hard.
Meanwhile, A sees Sanguine as a living, breathing reminder of the worst
part of himself, and his powerful need to befriend him is based entirely in
proving to himself that he is Not a Bad Person.
He doesn't have anything against Sanguine, really, beyond finding him kind
of pathetic (though at the same time he does understand that is his own
team's fault, so he tries not to be too judgmental, or at the very least to
keep it to himself). And he is getting slightly more comfortable around him
and Bad End in general, as they all praised him so very very much after the
puzzle game. Because yes, it is in fact that easy to win him over.
So he is warming up to Sanguine, but all that really motivates him to do is
continue to maintain his facade as aggressively as possible. What he's
working is doing, so he's going to keep doing it! He will strongly resist
any attempts to get to know anything beyond his pleasant boy exterior so
even if Sanguine does try he'll do his best to sidestep. Though he's not
actually terribly good at that, so maybe that woudln't matter if
Sanguine actually did decide to talk to him. But he's not going to take
those steps himself.
Persephone brings with him a sort of peaceful calm that's incredibly soothing to be around. He doesn't force conversation into a moment where it's not needed, letting it just be. There's not a lot of people he feels like he could sit around saying nothing and have a fulfilling experience with, but Persephone's one of them.
That being said, Sanguine also enjoys actually talking to him. He's soft-spoken, but he strikes Sanguine as incredibly observant-- he wouldn't be at all surprised to find Persephone knows a great deal more about what's going on than he lets on. He gets curious sometimes about the things Persephone is reading, but hasn't gotten around to asking. One day, maybe.
He's honestly pretty fond of Persephone. Theirs is a quiet friendship, but it's important to Sanguine in its own, understated way.
(And on a completely shallow level, Persephone is so very pretty. Like objectively, he and Lucifel have the same face? But he keeps thinking how pretty Persephone's is in a way he doesn't about Lucifel.)
